Chandler Family at Union Station

It’s been a while since we shot this session and it’s so much fun looking back on it. I love extended family sessions because I know how special they are. My family just did one of these sessions over Thanksgiving and it’s so great to get all of the family together. Time with cousins and relatives they may not see often throughout the year is one of the best gifts that you can give your children and photo to look back on and relive the memories are precious gifts that last a lifetime.

My favorite part of this session was when a few family members mysteriously disappeared and then returned with candy apples. 🙂 Worked for me! What a fun and tasty prop!

Ramirez Family Studio Session

This family is so very special to me. I first met mom and dad 10 years ago when they contacted me about doing engagement photos for them. I had only started my business a little less than a year earlier and was excited to do the session but also still in that newbie phase where I was nervous and hoping I could deliver the quality of photographs that I wanted to and that my clients would love. I will always remember the details of their session. It was HOT. Like over 100 degree hot. But that didn’t stop this couple from marching on and finishing the studio in multiple locations and looking cool and adorable. Stephanie made and/or brought many amazing props to personalize the session and they just made my job easy.

Since that session we have done Maternity, Gender Reveal, Extended Family, Newborn and Small Family Sessions. They have had a vision and a plan (and often new and fun location ideas and more amazing props) for each one and together we have created so many beautiful memories of their growing family. They embody everything I love about this job….capturing what is really important through the years and life as it changes and families grow.

It is only fitting that they were one of the early families to have a session in the studio this year. Not only have I captured their changes and growth, but they have been around through my little business changing and growing as well.

The Ashleys

It makes my heart so happy that when I decided to open my studio last spring, several of the first clients to try it out were good friends. I was so happy to be able to do this fun little session for Tara and her kiddos as a Father’s Day gift to her husband. Our kiddos are the same age and it’s crazy how grown up they are getting (luckily we aren’t getting any older).

Chip

I love reliving memories from this past year and this is one of my absolute favorites! When I first started photography I knew that I wanted to use it to help others and volunteer or donate to organizations and individuals whenever I could. I stumbled upon the organization Together We Rise who helps provide belongings and resources to children in Foster Care. At the time they had a program which allowed people who were adopting to sign up for a free photo session of the adoption. I thought this sounded amazing so I signed up as a volunteer. I never heard from them and forgot all about it. Fast forward to at least 10 years later and I suddenly get an e-mail asking if I would be willing to donate a session for a couple that was adopting. I was surprised (since I had forgotten all about this) but SO excited. They give me the address for the courthouse and it turns out it is 1 1/2 hours away, but I didn’t even care. This was definitely one of the most rewarding and memorable sessions of the year for me. Little Chip is such a sweetie and he so lucky to have found equally sweet parents.
