Chip

I love reliving memories from this past year and this is one of my absolute favorites! When I first started photography I knew that I wanted to use it to help others and volunteer or donate to organizations and individuals whenever I could. I stumbled upon the organization Together We Rise who helps provide belongings and resources to children in Foster Care. At the time they had a program which allowed people who were adopting to sign up for a free photo session of the adoption. I thought this sounded amazing so I signed up as a volunteer. I never heard from them and forgot all about it. Fast forward to at least 10 years later and I suddenly get an e-mail asking if I would be willing to donate a session for a couple that was adopting. I was surprised (since I had forgotten all about this) but SO excited. They give me the address for the courthouse and it turns out it is 1 1/2 hours away, but I didn’t even care. This was definitely one of the most rewarding and memorable sessions of the year for me. Little Chip is such a sweetie and he so lucky to have found equally sweet parents.

Cool, Urban Family Session, West Bottoms

I do a lot of family sessions.  I also do a lot of sessions in the West Bottoms.  I think this is only my second family session in the West Bottoms though.  It was so much fun!  I love this family’s style and that they stayed true to who they were for this session.  So many times we think everyone has to be in khakis and sweaters for family photos but if that’s not who you or your kids are you wind up having portraits of strangers hanging in your home!  Mom was also super smart and included some headshots in the family session.  I get asked a lot of times if it’s ok if we do different combinations, etc. in a session.  Of course!  That’s just good business!

Extended Family Fun in Blue Springs, MO

Sometimes clients become friends.  Sometimes friends become clients.  I am so grateful for both!  This session was the latter.  These fellow hockey and Lacrosse parents and good friends asked me to do an extended family session for them and of course I couldn’t wait to help out!  Not only was it so much fun, but some beautiful memories were captured too.
