Adams Family…The sequel

I LOVE return family sessions! It’s so much fun to get to know each other and look forward to seeing families again year after year. I created beautiful family photos with this bunch last year and was so happy when they wanted to do them again. We went back and forth on a location for this session and ultimately decided “why mess with a good thing?” and shot in the same location as last year. I love that the girls remembered the “secrets on the bridge” photo and wanted to recreate it! How much fun would it be for them to do this year after year?

Stephanie and Mitchell

I know I say it every time, but I LOVE engagement sessions. They are truly underrated and often seen as “optional” I think, which is a shame because they are such a great way for a couple to “kick off” their future together and document the beginning of it all! Obviously there will be wedding photos, but engagement photos are such a great way to capture your personality as a couple and the excitement of being engaged! It also helps me get to know the couple better before their big day and helps them practice and feel more comfortable in front of me and my camera! Stephanie and Mitchell didn’t need much practice though. They were so relaxed and natural and made the session fun! I loved all of their personal touches and special tributes to their relationship. Their wedding is going to be AMAZING!

Heckman Family Summer Session

This family session was FULL of Happy Accidents from the moment I pulled into the parking lot. I planned on meeting the families there to head to the actual location I had in mind, but once I arrived and looked around, I realized that right there around the parking lot was a great location! There were cool stones, tall grasses, lots of shade and a path lined with little yellow flowers. If I had any doubt at all how great of a spot this would be, it disappeared completely when the family showed up in yellows! When you have little ones in the family photos they tend to be way more laid back and “unposed” and you kind of just go with the flow and that leads to lots of fun and laughter which also leads to great photos! I doubt it’s any secret who stole the show in this session, but if you need a hint…look for the amazing curls!

Chandler Family at Union Station

It’s been a while since we shot this session and it’s so much fun looking back on it. I love extended family sessions because I know how special they are. My family just did one of these sessions over Thanksgiving and it’s so great to get all of the family together. Time with cousins and relatives they may not see often throughout the year is one of the best gifts that you can give your children and photo to look back on and relive the memories are precious gifts that last a lifetime.

My favorite part of this session was when a few family members mysteriously disappeared and then returned with candy apples. 🙂 Worked for me! What a fun and tasty prop!

Ramirez Family Studio Session

This family is so very special to me. I first met mom and dad 10 years ago when they contacted me about doing engagement photos for them. I had only started my business a little less than a year earlier and was excited to do the session but also still in that newbie phase where I was nervous and hoping I could deliver the quality of photographs that I wanted to and that my clients would love. I will always remember the details of their session. It was HOT. Like over 100 degree hot. But that didn’t stop this couple from marching on and finishing the studio in multiple locations and looking cool and adorable. Stephanie made and/or brought many amazing props to personalize the session and they just made my job easy.

Since that session we have done Maternity, Gender Reveal, Extended Family, Newborn and Small Family Sessions. They have had a vision and a plan (and often new and fun location ideas and more amazing props) for each one and together we have created so many beautiful memories of their growing family. They embody everything I love about this job….capturing what is really important through the years and life as it changes and families grow.

It is only fitting that they were one of the early families to have a session in the studio this year. Not only have I captured their changes and growth, but they have been around through my little business changing and growing as well.
