The more weddings I shoot the more I love them. I love how every wedding has similar aspects yet are as different from one another as the couples themselves. Here are some of my favorite things (and favorite images) from this lovely summer wedding.
1) The engagement session… Ryan and Victoria chose the Country Club Plaza for their engagement session and I had so much fun walking around with them and getting to know them while we scouted out the perfect locations for their engagement pictures. This is the very reason I include engagement sessions in my wedding packages. By the time the big day arrived I hope we already feel like “old friends” and that my couples are comfortable shooting with me. My favorite image from their engagement session was a spontaneous shot taken by a huge gumball machine that they later incorporated into a candy and treat table at their reception. SO Cute!
2) The First Look(s)… Many (if not most) of my brides and grooms are choosing to do a “first look” in place of the traditional “not seeing each other until the aisle”. I LOVE these! Such an intimate moment with just the two of you (well,…and me), they allow for more time to get photos done before the ceremony which means that you get to your reception to party sooner, and they are just amazing photo opps. I got to do TWO first looks for this wedding. One when Victoria’s dad saw her in her dress for the first time (tears) and then again when Ryan first saw his bride (more tears).
3) The Tea Ceremony…Ryan and Victoria had a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony during their wedding and it was one of my favorite things. So simple, yet so personal and special.
4) The shoes…I love quirky little touches that brides and grooms incorporate into their weddings. This couple had matching bride and groom Converse that they changed into prior to their reception. SO cute and SO comfy!
5) The couple…What a beautiful and fun couple that I was so lucky to have the opportunity to get to know. I wish them many, many years of happiness together.
