Oak Grove Homecoming Parade

When a Parade passes right by your photography studio, you don’t miss out on the chance to grab your camera and take some photos! I thought it would be nice for everyone to have some great photos of their parade experience so I tried to get photos of everyone I could! It was a lot of fun to watch and take a break from work too!

These are just a handful of the photos, but you can find the rest under “Client Galleries” on my website: www.heathernealphotography.com

Whitney “School” Photos

Gosh I have smart clients! Whitney’s mom wasn’t thrilled with her school photos this year (shocking, right?). So she reached out to see if we could do a little micro-mini session and get some good ones. Of course! What a great idea! I am always willing to find ways to meet my clients’ needs. If you don’t see a package that I offer that fits those needs, reach out and tell me what you want and I’ll do my best to create something that works! I love how these turned out. My own son may not be as excited about this idea though because I think I’m going to get him into the studio for some better “school photos” now too.

Kansas City Fashion Week- Fall/Winter 2023

THIS has easily become one of my favorite opportunities that photography has brought to me. I LOVE fashion and I obviously love photography so being an Official Photographer for Kansas City Fashion Week is basically like Christmas for me…but it happens TWICE a year!!!

This season my adventures started on Media Night which was an event held at the beautiful Three Light Luxury Apartment Building in downtown KC. This was a fun night for those who cover media for the events, influencers, coordinators, etc. to enjoy some food and socializing, take in the views and of course get some great photos and selfies!

My next assignment for the season was the Wednesday night show. I began by covering the red carpet which is a fun opportunity to photograph everyone from attendees, models, designers, event coordinators, media, other photographers…you name it! I made it in for a red carpet photo as well. 😉

I also covered the Wednesday night show from Side Stage which is a great way to get some fun shots of the models as they first enter the runway, some good movement photos of flowy designs and some of the other fun stuff that happens that you can’t always see from the photography pit. This was my second season as an official photographer and I am constantly learning new things. Last season I learned a decent size step-ladder is worth bringing when you are only 5’1″ and trying to shoot side stage over the heads of the audience. Definitely paid off this season!

Friday was my loooong day but also my favorite! I was backstage with coffee in hand by 11 a.m. shooting all of the hustle and bustle of models getting hair and make-up, directors shouting out where everyone needed to be and keeping them on schedule, designers bringing in their looks and trying things on models, runway rehearsals and pretty much everything it takes to pull off a fashion show. Walked next door to Unforked at Crown Center for my favorite G.O.A.T taco and then back for more backstage coverage. Oh yeah…and there were puppies!!!

Then it was SHOWTIME! Friday night I was right up front and center in the Pit which is the best seat in the house for the show. So many great designers and models!

Can’t wait for KCFW Spring/Summer ’24!!!

The “G” Family

This fun, extended-family session included little Bryson, mom, dad and both sets of grandparents. It was obvious throughout the session that everyone just enjoyed being around this little guy and that he was so very loved and had an amazing built-in cheering section for whatever he decides to do in life! He really just wanted to explore and especially hang out on the dock and throw rocks into the water, so we did a lot of that because photo sessions should be fun! And when you are as cute as he is, it’s not hard to get good photos!

The “H” Family

Fun fact about me that you might not know…I also work for a Trucking Company. No, not as a driver (don’t worry). I stay in the office with the paperwork so you are all safe on the roads. But I recently got to do this fun family session for one of the drivers and his adorable little family (even the 4 legged members)!
