I loved this session from the moment I started editing it, but maybe appreciate it even more looking back on all of that lush greenery. It’s easy to take that for granted in the middle of summer, but now that everything is gray and brown, it sure does make you more grateful for the beauty of summer. This couple was so easy to work with and I just love how their session turned out and am totally excited for their wedding! Also…Go Chiefs!

I know I say it every time, but I LOVE engagement sessions. They are truly underrated and often seen as “optional” I think, which is a shame because they are such a great way for a couple to “kick off” their future together and document the beginning of it all! Obviously there will be wedding photos, but engagement photos are such a great way to capture your personality as a couple and the excitement of being engaged! It also helps me get to know the couple better before their big day and helps them practice and feel more comfortable in front of me and my camera! Stephanie and Mitchell didn’t need much practice though. They were so relaxed and natural and made the session fun! I loved all of their personal touches and special tributes to their relationship. Their wedding is going to be AMAZING!
I have mentioned before how much I love when clients come up with new and original locations for their sessions. Well, this couple was full of great ideas! When we first planned their engagements session, they thought they might like to do it at their favorite local brewery and asked what I thought. Yes! That sounds adorable, I’m in. Then they changed their minds and were thinking a park near their house might be better. Great! It’s a park I have never shot at and the fall leaves were at their peak. Can’t wait. Then shortly before their session, another idea. Their front porch. Ok, I’m game. Although you never know what kind of backgrounds you are going to have to work with when arriving to clients homes for sessions, I liked the originality and the personal touch it would add. So I show up and it’s like the best of ALL of the ideas. They failed to mention they happen to live on what has to be the most beautiful street in Kansas City in the fall. Their home and porch were adorable. They brought out the “beer bike” that the bride to be made herself! I seriously can’t wait to shoot their wedding and see all of the amazing ideas they have for it!
There are a few locations that make my ears perk up when clients tell me they are getting married there. Milestones Barn in Warrensburg is one of them, so when this gorgeous couple said they also wanted to do their engagement session there I was all for it! You just can’t go wrong with a session or event here no matter the season. I can’t wait to go back and capture their Big Day!
