Lee’s Summit, Mo Wedding Photographer: Tara and Blaine

My busiest wedding season so far is coming to a close. Just one more wedding on the books for this year. Several years ago when I shot my first wedding (and was SO stressed and nervous) I would have never dreamed that I would eventually love shooting weddings this much and that my business would eventually consist mostly of them. I also would have never imagined being a little sad that wedding season was over instead of relieved…but I am.

This latest wedding was so much fun and as usual, I had lots of favorites. So here they are in no particular order. 🙂

1) The dress! Tara was such a beautiful bride and her dress was just perfect for her. Absolutely stunning and she was a dream to photograph!

2) The Venue. I am pretty optomistic so I usually focus on the good at every venue which makes them almost alway make my “favorites” list but this one was really great. I loved that everything at the Emaline Ballroom in Lee’s Summit was in one place which made it easy on the guests AND the couple. Although it isn’t in a botanical garden or sprawling countryside, I was pleasantly surprised how many great photo spots there were due to their well planned little gazebo, twinkling lights, stone wall and pretty landscaping.

3) The DJ. “BobbyG” with The Dance Factory was great to work with and kept the party moving all night long which provided me with lots of great shots.

4) The Cake. I didn’t get the name of the baker to give them credit (so if you read this, please comment so you can be recognized) but the cake was absolutely beautiful…and yummy too. Ok, so I will admit I tried a piece. I never have cake when working a wedding but at this particular wedding I stayed the whole reception and at the end I noticed there was a table with several pieces of cake still sitting there, so I decided…why not. 😉 YUM!

5)  THE FLOWERS!  The flowers from The Village Garden were probably my most favorite thing!  Not only were they beautiful, but they smelled amazing.  At one point I was crouched down under an arrangement shooting the first dance and it was hard to stay focused because the smell was so wonderful!
