I have lived in Kansas City for 20 years…and it is “home” for my family. But Central Illinois will always be my first and forever home. I was so excited to get to go there for this AMAZING wedding. I had so many favorite things that I’m not sure I could even list them all, but here are a few…
1) The location. Not only did I get to go home for this wedding, but the location itself was amazing. One of my favorite things is taking something simple that others might not see the beauty in and making it beautiful. That is something I do all the time in photography…a rusty staircase, an old paint-peeling door, an old building. This bride and groom looked at this simple location and saw the potential and beauty and then made it come to life!
2) The personal details! They were everywhere and in everything. From the photography ideas that they had which totally captured who they were individually and as a couple to the handmade signs directing the way to the ceremony and reception sites, the details and personality of this couple could not be missed.
3) The cake (and topper). The cake topper was the one of the cutest I’ve ever seen! It was a replica of the bride, groom and their doggy. Not only that, but they brought along their personal belongings (nurses hat and shotgun) to pose just like it. 🙂
4) The food. SO good. Fancy schmancy food can be fun and beautiful, but this good ‘ole homestyle barbecue, and all of the fixins was so amazing! (And thank you for feeding the photographer). 😉
5) My accomodations. I was pampered at the best resort Farmer City, Illinois has to offer. My in-laws’ house. 🙂 How wonderful to mix work and a short visit with them all at once.
