Newborn Sessions

What to Bring:

  • Formula, bottles, nursing cover, whatever you need to feed your baby if he/she gets hungry. There is water available at the studio.
  • Extra diapers/wipes
  • Any special toys, blankets, headbands you would like used in photos
  • Pacifiers or anything that comforts your baby

What to Expect:

Once you and your baby arrive, I usually take over and you get a little well-deserved break.  It works best if I get them settled and asleep while also getting them ready for their modeling debut.  Plus, it doesn’t take them long in the world to learn to smell/sense when mommy has them and if they get all snuggled in your arms…they may not want to leave.  I have to admit, snuggling newborns is NOT exactly the worst part of my job either.  😉
Parents- Whether you plan on being in the photographs or not, come prepared to be in a few. Sometimes newborns have different plans than we do and decide to put up a fight against sleep and also decide they want to be held. During this time we will at the very least take some close-ups of them in your arms (so you may not want to be wearing your favorite old college sweatshirt) and maybe even full shots of you holding baby. Many parents think they don’t want to be in the photos, but trust me…you will love these later. I wish I had more good shots of me holding my babies as newborns!
I will have a small heater fan running to keep baby nice and warm. They sleep better when warm and cozy and they will be in their birthday suit for most of the session (which also means don’t spend any time picking out outfits for the day).
