Engagement Session at Nelson Atkins Museum

I feel like this year has flown by and I think a lot of my clients have been feeling the same. I am currently having conversations with so many clients who are scrambling to get family, senior and engagement sessions done before the end of the year. This beautiful couple (and kiddos) braved a very cold day to make that happen and it paid off with these beautiful photos. You can’t even tell their teeth were chattering. 😉

Huffman Wedding

I have been looking forward to this wedding ever since shooting this couples’ engagement session last year. I absolutely love their vintage style and their beautiful wedding venue is one of my favorites! Eagle Bluff Ranch in Waverly, MO sits high above the Missouri River which winds it’s way around it below. But it’s not just the views outside that are impressive! The “lodge” is beautiful as well and has the BEST “getting ready rooms” for both the bride and groom but the main area is absolutely breathtaking with it’s wood beams and tables and amazing fireplace. Even if the weather doesn’t cooperate for an outdoor wedding, it’s not exactly heartbreaking to have an indoor wedding here.

My favorite things from this wedding were obviously the bride’s vintage attire, but also that instead of a guest book, they had guests sign ornaments with messages of love and advice and hang them on the garland over the fireplace. These will be such fun memories as they decorate for Christmas for years to come!

Christmas Studio Minis

I had so much fun shooting Christmas Mini Sessions in the studio this year! It was a great way to kick off the Holiday Season and get into the Christmas Spirit! The cookies and cocoa were yummy, but the marshmallows for the cocoa were actually the biggest hit. It was so fun to watch the kiddos “sneak” just a few more.

Mya Senior

At the beginning of her session, Mya thought she A) Wasn’t photogenic and B) Needed lots of help posing. I have a lot of proof that says otherwise. So much proof actually that even after lots of “narrowing down” I still ended up with 99 photos in her gallery from just a 1 hour session with 5 different outfits and moving between different locations.

Gorgeous and stylish girls that aren’t afraid of getting out in nature like Mya, make my job easy and so much fun! She’s more than just a pretty face though…she enjoys softball, hunting, fishing, drawing and painting and is passionate about her sport, family and faith. I had a great time with her and her mom and absolutely love all of her images that we created together.

The “F” Family

The idea of getting family photos taken doesn’t sound like fun to everyone. Getting the session scheduled, coordinating outfits for everyone, bribing (or threatening) the kids to smile and worrying if they are throughout the session. But guess what? I want everyone to HAVE FUN at their session. Photos of people who are actually happy are always better than photos of people who are stressed or miserable but trying to pretend to be happy! I sure had fun with this family. There was secret telling, exploring the woods, rides on dad’s shoulders, running through the tall grass and lots of giggles. I’m so glad this sweet family has not only happy photos, but happy memories to look back on for years to come.
